Double production of solar inverters from ABB

ABB expands production capacity of solar inverters in Estonia

ABB doubles solar inverter manufacturing capacity in Estonia to support the growing global demand for its central inverters.

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has doubled the capacity of its Estonia solar inverter manufacturing facility. The factory, located in Jüri, was opened today by Robert Itschner, Managing Director for ABB’s Power Conversion business unit and Bo Henriksson, Managing Director for ABB in the Baltic States.
“We have seen an increasing global demand for our central inverters, the PVS800, and the recently launched PVS980,” says Robert Itschner. “This factory expansion, and the new factory in India, opened on September 1st, will help us meet this demand.”
The dramatic drop in solar energy prices in recent years has led to it gaining a bigger share of energy pro-duction investments. This trend is expected to continue for years to come. “With our factory investments and those we have made in our climate chamber and full power testing facilities in Helsinki, ABB has fur-ther strengthened its position as a global leader in renewable energy,” continues Robert Itschner.
The investment in the Estonia and Helsinki facilities are supported by central inverter R&D facilities and a training center, both located in Helsinki.
